"I need to sustain sales momentum"

Are you planning on building out your team?  Does your business warrant some extra hands?  You need to Sustain Sales Momentum.

Are you ready to take it to the next level and bring people in to do some of the tasks you prefer not to do?

There is an old saying that if you have one shop, opening another will loose you money, it is not until you have 3 or more that the new stores put you on the road to growth. Similarly, when you hand over the reigns of aspects of your business to others, the initial expansion may not immediately grow your profits. But with the right emphasis and taking on the right people in the right places will certainly move your business to the next level. That is why, when building out a team “sustaining” momentum is the first goal. If you sustain your momentum throughout an expansion, you will then be poised to grow solidly.

If you are like most small business owners, sales is one of the tasks you prefer not to spend too much of your time on. But as you probably developed the product or service yourself, because it was something you were passionate about, you are naturally the best advocate for your business.

How do you pass on the responsibility for the future of your business, the acquisition of new business?

Mentoring will help you hold on to what you need to and let go of the tasks best done by someone else. It is going to be important not to turn your back on sales as you hand over the day-to-day tasks.

I can mentor you in your new capacity as VP of Sales for your business. Recruiting the right sales person is the greatest challenge when creating a sales team. Knowing what to look for and how to see past the candidate’s ability to sell (themselves), can be difficult. A good sales manager or VP of Sales with experience will know how to do this. You are probably taking on this role for the first time. My mentoring you through the skills and tasks of sales management, from recruiting to target setting, from compensation to forecasting, I can assist you to pass the baton of this major part of your business.

I believe in the “pat, cuddle and kick” approach to mentoring. I will give you a pat on the back when you deserve recognition. A cuddle is for when a little sympathy is required, but not for too long, it’s soon time to move onward and upward. And even the best students need the occasional proverbial “kick” (you know where). Not only will this principle apply to my work with you, but I will pass on this skill to you to use on your new charge(s).

A typical mentoring engagement is 3 months, consisting of a weekly 45 minute phone session. In addition, we will set daily, weekly and monthly objectives. Assignments and worksheets will support key areas that may need to be developed.

It is obviously important that mentoring shows results. The time it takes to see the desired results will vary, and engagements can be shortened or lengthened at any time by mutual agreement.

To find out if mentoring is right for you, please complete the form to the right with as much detail as possible in the remarks section. I will then contact you and set up a time for an exploratory call. The “Explore” call will be approximately 30 minutes with no obligation. At the end of that call we will see if we are a good fit for each other.
